Checking on a Checklist (part 2)

March 25, 2007  //  Posted by: meemax  //  Category: Life, Love, Pain

I should have added a 5.5 in the checklist.

5.5. Resist the urge to check his multiply and friendster updates.
- Major loser me! I check it almost everyday and torture myself over the decision I make. Hehehe… Sarap maging miserable minsan. Zima!

(Pasensya muna. Pagbigyan ang taong gustong maglasing. Hehe! Sa mga curious, this is Zima.)

I Must Obey the Inscrutable Exhortations of my Soul

March 23, 2007  //  Posted by: meemax  //  Category: Ego, Geekiness, Life

Sorry! Another geek blog.
(Some things I really can’t resist. Hehe! C/C++ rules!)

COBOL was designed so that managers could read code.
BASIC was designed for people who are not programmers.
FORTRAN is for scientists.
ADA comes from a committee – a government committee no less.
PILOT is for teachers.
PASCAL is for students.
LOGO is for children.
APL is for Martians.
FORTH, LISP and PROLOG are specialty languages.
C, however, is for programmers.

(I’m more into C++. Still, gotta love them. Hehe!)

Checking on a Checklist

March 21, 2007  //  Posted by: meemax  //  Category: Life, Love, Pain

There are somethings that we can’t control.
(Like copying a blog from a blogger friend, hi Jen!)

Checklist:

1. Give yourself permission to mourn.
- Eh! Ayoko kaseng mag-isip. Nakakapanlumo, nakakamiss, nakakapanghinayang.

2. Drown in alcohol.
- Paano ba yan? Graduate na ako. Kelangan na bang mag-enroll ng masters? (Level-up. Roppongi level.)

3. Reach out to a friend.
- Try several friends, haha! (Dapat ata friends with alcohol, sabay karaoke! Yebah!)

4. Put a closure on your relationship.
- The only thing I did right.

5. Resist the urge to talk to him.
- Can’t. Failed. Hehe!

6. Go out on dates.
- Hmmm… Any one?

7. Give your heart a time to heal.
- Obvious bang hindi!

Naku! Better do all these things!
(Next priorities: zima, gin, baileys, tequila, karaoke and bars.)

Meanwhile, I’ll be listening to “Photograph” by Nickelback for the Nth time. Not helping haha!

One Good Hair Day, Forever Bad Hair Days

March 19, 2007  //  Posted by: meemax  //  Category: Embarassment, Life

I got my hair cut last Sunday.

At dahil isinabahala ko na ang aking buhok dito sa bansang kakaiba ang fashion sense, pagsisisi at katatawanan ang ikilabas.

I got a great hair day after the hair cut. Happens all the time; every time I get my hair cut. Di ba maganda habang kakablow-dry lang. Pero sy*t, ang layo talaga ng kinalabasan the following day!

Good Hair Day vs The Rest of my Doggone Life

O ha! Layo di ba? Sucks!

Anyway, I’m thinking of getting a punked hair-do with lots of gel and probably a streak of green or blue. At least kung maraming magsasabi na pangit, masasabi kong “sinandya yan…“. Haha!

Blogging Streak

March 13, 2007  //  Posted by: meemax  //  Category: Announcements

Wow! Blogging 3 days in a row! I’ve really got to get a life that’s not virtual hahahaha!

Sensya, pero di ko mapigilan.

Announcing, my blog has been seen 1000+ times by readers here in Japan. (No, hindi po ako na nagrerefresh ng pauulit-ulit hanggang umabot ng 1000 no!).

Click on the mini-map at the lower-left portion of my blog. (Or click here)

Wala lang. So happy! Happy Birthday to me! Wii! \(^o^)/

Too Much Atmosphere!

March 12, 2007  //  Posted by: meemax  //  Category: Embarassment, Event, Life

Most embarassing birthday ever!

We went to this classy restaurant. Sobrang nahiya ako dahil talagang di ako belong. I couldn’t relax. I couldn’t take a picture. (Baka sabihin nilang ignorante ako at nag-aasal tribo ako. Me class ata to! Huh!)

I pretended to be snotty and filthy rich. I pretended that I always eat out in 52nd floor restaurants of 5-star hotels. (Like hell I could pull that off! Wearing a shirt I bought from Uniqlo. Pinay ako eh. I buy cheap. Hehe)

So this is the place. (Picture from this website. Click to enlarge.)

Total damage: 14,000yen++. (Buti na lang libre haha!)

We ordered veal among others. Veal was freaking 6,200yen. To think, it was one of the less expensive dishes. (At least nakakain na ako ng veal. Pero alang-alang sa mga bakang sanggol, that should be my last.)

(I still go for Jollibees and eat-all-you-can Shakeys. Yebah!)

Given the really expensive sparkling water, cute friendly waiters, great food, English with heavy accent (probably from the Lord-of-the-Ring kingdoms or who knows where), hell yeah it was cool.

I got to try something new in my birthday. Best (and only) gift I received.

Thanks! Happy Birthday to me! ~~~o(^o^)o

Programmer. Loner. But will Someday Rule the World.

March 12, 2007  //  Posted by: meemax  //  Category: Geekiness, tests

YES! Yes! I KNOW!

I swore that I’d resist posting test results on this blog but I’ve strayed from my promise. This made my day (although today is my day). Any thing that’s says I’m an old-school hard-core (okay I just added the hard-core part) programmer rocks my world.

Link below.

Your programmer personality type is: DLSB

You’re a Doer.
You are very quick at getting tasks done. You believe the outcome is the most important part of a task and the faster you can reach that outcome the better. After all, time is money.
(saka okay lang sa akin ang malate lagi eh. basta maganda naman at on-time labas ng work di ba? Oks lang yang mga long breaks at mga chika chika! defensive hehe…)

You like coding at a Low level.
You’re from the old school of programming and believe that you should have an intimate relationship with the computer. You don’t mind juggling registers around and spending hours getting a 5% performance increase in an algorithm. (old school! c++ rules! woohoo!! yes, i do. i do have an intimate relationship with my computers. and no it’s not porn haha!)

You work best in a Solo situation.
The best way to program is by yourself. There’s no communication problems, you know every part of the code allowing you to write the best programs possible. (i do what i want with my code. eh ano ngayon kung one-liner lang ibang functions ko?! basta maayos.)

You are a liBeral programmer.
Programming is a complex task and you should use white space and comments as freely as possible to help simplify the task. We’re not writing on paper anymore so we can take up as much room as we need. (i can be liberal at anything. wink wink! haha!)

Geeks will someday rule the world!

Well, now I’m sure mag-mamatandang dalaga ako. Loner daw ako eh. O well, I still have my pc’s.

Free Hugs in Tokyo? Mabenta Kaya?

March 05, 2007  //  Posted by: meemax  //  Category: Japan, Love

I saw this free hug campaign in Shinjuku.

Being in a land where people try NOT to interact with each other, it’s gonna be a surprise if anyone wants free hugs (well sa mga hapon). Nakahandusay ka sa kalye dahil sa hilo o kung anuman, walang tutulong sa iyo. (Pero pagdating sa panyanyansing, nakow! Hehe!)

People here are trained to look the other way. Yang mga napapanood nyo sa anime na matutulungin masyado mga girls and boybs. Not true. It is ideal. Pero yun nga, idealism lang. Something that anime cartoonists wish it was true (like big-breasted, slim-legged 14-year olds.. so not true).

Kaya yung mga nakikita kong free hugs, like they are the grumpiest huggers I have ever seen. Sinong kayang yayakap sa iyo? Hindi naman sa ironic, pero nakakaawa di ba? Kase di sila pinapansin.

Read from this blog:

Give a hug to the “Free Hug” people in Japan if you see them! I’m sure they’re probably lonely.

Game! Next time I see one. I’ll make I give him/her a big one! Ummpph!

(I’ll probably even join them. Hugs anyone?)
